Redevelopment: more than bricks & mortar: leading the move

Pam Taylor

The process of operational commissioning prepares a new clinical or service area for occupation through four underpinning delivery structures: managing staff responsible, enabling evidence based service delivery, supporting services in planning and preparation and, the moving of staff and patients safely and efficiently into their new location.

Preparing an existing complex clinical facility to safely transition services and staffing teams to a new clinical environment requires not only early planning, allowing for flexibility, to accommodate the change but effective leadership.

Reflecting on the challenges and opportunities in leading change, and the critical role of change management to the success of a smooth transition, from the old to the new is shared.
